Lower School – Grades: Preschool – 2

At the Willow School, young students are encouraged to develop an awareness of personal strengths and interests and an appreciation for their impact on others and the environment. Students are also encouraged to focus on virtues, such as personal responsibility and respect for themselves, others and the environment.  The various communities in which they live; for example the classroom, the school, and the town. Through this course of study, it is our desire that the students learn to become confident, independent and compassionate human beings, with the tools and experiences needed to embark on rich, meaningful journeys as responsible citizens of the world. The integrated curriculum allows students to learn material in great depth as well as to see the connections that naturally exist among subject areas.  Within this general framework, these students are instructed in the fundamental building blocks of the more traditional areas of study such as Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Environmental Studies, French, Library, Music, Wellness, and Visual Arts.
