What is the average class size at The Willow School?

The average class size ranges from 12 to 15 students.


What is the cut-off age for kindergarten?

Students must be five years of age by October 1st to enter kindergarten.


When is world language introduced?

French and Spanish are introduced in Preschool and are both taught in Kindergarten and First grade.  Parents and students in grades two through five choose between French and Spanish. At the Middle School level, all students study Latin twice per week and either French or Spanish three times per week.  


Does Willow offer afterschool programs?

After school programs are offered to support our families, faculty, and staff by providing affordable, flexible after school supervision for Willow’s students. There are four programs: Enrichment, Stay and Play, Extended Day, and Sports.

Enrichment is available for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Stay and Play is available for 4 year old Preschool students who opt for a 2:00 pm schedule, and is staffed by Willow’s Preschool teachers. Stay and Play runs from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and takes place in the classroom.

Extended Day is available to all students, Preschool through 8th grade, and is staffed by Willow faculty and staff.
The Sports Program is available for students in the 5th through 8th grade and runs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm, unless there is a competition.


What athletic programs does Willow offer?

The Sports program is available for students in the 5th through 8th grade and runs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm, unless there is a competition. The program begins on the first Monday after the Middle School trip and consists of three seasonal sports: soccer (fall), fencing (winter), and track (spring). Instructors may be Willow faculty and staff, parents, and/or independent sub­contractors from the community.


Does the school provide transportation?

The Willow School does not provide transportation. However, busing is currently available for students living in Mendham and Chester townships. Contact the local Board of Education for further information.


Does Willow offer a hot lunch program?

The Willow School is committed to health and wellness and strives to provide food through its lunch program that is natural and nutritious. The Lunch Program caterer is responsible for ensuring the safety of students via maintenance of nut free policy, training of employees, use of food servsafe protocols, and communication. The lunch meals consist of a main dish (often protein), side dishes of grains, vegetables and/or fruit and a choice of beverage. A seasonal menu approach which incorporates“Tasting Tuesday” ingredients is used to encourage students to try new ingredients, nutritious meals, and explore cultural diversity.


Does Willow offer tuition assistance?

In order to make possible the attendance at The Willow School by children from families with limited financial means, the School has set aside funds to assist such families. Please contact the School for further information. All requests for information and financial aid application forms will be kept strictly confidential. The Willow School participates in TADS (Tuition Aid Data Services).
