The Willow School: Parents & Community

A Willow School education is a partnership between home and school. We embrace the participation of parents in the education of their children. There is a variety of productive ways in which parents may join with the school in providing for the best possible education of Willow School children:

Supporting your child: We anticipate that all parents will support their children’s educational experiences by offering an appropriate level of help with homework, taking an interest in the child’s school experiences, joining us for school-sponsored events, modeling and praising virtuous behavior, and offering support and encouragement to each Willow School teacher as he or she devotes time, talent, and energy to the education of our children.

Volunteering: There are many ways that parents will be able to volunteer, either on a regular basis or just occasionally. Some examples:

Helping in a classroom, by arrangement with the classroom teacher
Joining with other parents to organize and participate in school special events
Assisting in the library, joining work projects at the school, preparing learning materials for teachers, and other such activities

A critical component to the overall success of our school is the financial resources we secure in the early stages of our development and well into the future.

Annual Giving: The school will ask each parent, the extended family of each child, and friends of the school, to participate in the Annual Fund drive, helping to support the school through donations that will be used for direct support of operating expenses (faculty salaries, tuition assistance, and more). As is true at most independent schools, tuition alone does not cover the full cost of educating each Willow School child, and it is therefore important that each family give as generously as possible. Our goal will be 100% participation by Willow School families.

Capital Campaigns: Substantial funds are needed in order to construct the facilities and provide the equipment that is necessary for a quality education. Periodically, the school will engage in special fund-raising campaigns for building projects and endowment programs. Parents, extended family members, and friends associated with the school will be asked to give generously so that the school may provide a high quality education not only for today’s children, but also for children in generations to come.

It is essential that we all work together to create outstanding educational experiences for Willow School children. We look forward to the association that will develop between school and parents, school and the community, and we anticipate wholehearted support.
