Successful independent schools are rooted in a culture of philanthropy.
Schools are handicapped without the focused efforts of a well organized and willing group
of volunteers. I am enormously grateful to all the friends, grandparents, parents, teachers,
staff and administrators who give their time, talent and financial resources to make The
Willow School a thriving school of excellence. The work of our volunteers, from the Board
of Trustees to class parents and event donors, ensures that The Willow School will continue
to be a strong academic presence now and in the future. I believe the benefits of parents,
children and teachers working together are immeasurable. The more parents participate
in schooling, in a sustained way, at every level---in advocacy, as fund raisers and supporters,
as volunteers--- the better for student achievement. (Williams & Chavkin, Education
Leadership, 1990).
With appreciation,
Kate Burke Walsh
